Think Pink!

…Everything that you can think –
And that includes the kitchen sink,
Think pink!

Kay Thompson as Fashion Editor Maggie Prescott in Funny Face (1957)

The holidays are over, the resolutions have been made, and two months in, the weather is getting very cold!

I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to slog through 2024.  How can this be?  The year has just begun!  Something has to change.  And quick!  I feel like Maggie, the magazine publisher and editor for Quality magazine: “D for down, D for dreary, D for dull and depressing, dismal, and deadly!”

Kay Thompson sings “Think Pink!”

Then… “Here is our answer.  Pink.  Everything goes pink!” So, I’ve got it: A Pink Tea Party is my answer to the blahs I’ve been facing lately.

Think Pink Tea

Everything will be pink.  Starting with a pink champagne aperitif.

Classic Kir Royale

Then pink(ish) berries with vanilla whipped cream…

Then pink salmon finger sandwiches.

And pink roast beef sandwiches.  Egg salad in pink (well, red) tomato cups.  Scones with pink strawberry jam.  Scones with pink cherries.

Pink raspberry shortbread.

Pink strawberry fairy cakes. And pink tea!  Hibiscus tea is easy, floral, and very pink.

Maggie wasn’t the only champion of pink. Eloise, that cheeky 6-year-old resident of the Plaza, agreed: “Think pink. A better way of life.” Thank you, Maggie-Eloise-Kay!
